Inquest into tragic death of Sophie Gradon set to be held in April following initial delay

An inquest into the tragic death of Sophie Gradon is set to take place next month after initially being delayed.

The 32-year-old Love Island star was found dead at a Ponteland address on June 20 last year.

Northumbria Police do not believe there were any suspicious circumstances.

Her inquest was first due to take place last week but Northumberland Coroner's Court said there had been a delay after new information was passed to the family.

A statement released at the time said: "Please note that it has been necessary to cancel the hearing date for the inquest dealing with the death of Sophie Gradon.

"Sophie's parents have requested further time to consider a report which was only recently received."

Now the Coroner's office has confirmed the hearing has been re-scheduled for April 18.

Sophie, a popular media personality and model, was well known in Newcastle and her death prompted a wave of grief.

Tributes from friends, fans and co-stars flooded in after the news broke and the TV show which brought her to national attention also paid their respects.

The official Love Island twitter account posted a message at the time saying: "The whole ITV2 and Love Island team are profoundly saddened to hear the news about Sophie, and our deepest sympathies and thoughts go to her family and friends."

Just weeks after she died, her boyfriend Aaron Armstrong was also found dead. An inquest into Inquest into tragic death of 'happy-go-lucky' Aaron Armstrong, 25, is held.
