Police investigating the 2018 death of a man in a Cessnock backyard have charged a woman with drug supply after detectives received information about the Hunter's alleged methylamphetamine and cannabis trade during their inquiries.
The 33-year-old faced Newcastle Local Court on Wednesday morning after she was charged at Silverwater jail on July 2.
She faces three counts of supplying a prohibited drug on an ongoing basis and one charge of supplying an indictable quantity of a prohibited drug.
The 33-year-old did not apply for bail and the matter was adjourned to Cessnock Local Court on September 9.
Ewan Sams, 36, died out the back of a home on the corner of Edith and Chidgey streets late on the night of September 25.
Police said on Wednesday the 33-year-old woman's arrest came after detectives from Strike Force Lirki - set up to investigate Mr Sams' death - received information about the alleged ongoing supply of methylamphetamine and cannabis in the Hunter region during the course of their investigation.
A 34-year-old man was charged last month with murder over Mr Sams' death.
Police allege the man drove a Nissan Patrol into the backyard of the Cessnock home and pinned Mr Sams between the vehicle and a shed, causing fatal injuries.
He remains in custody and will face court again next month.
