Investigation continuing after reports of gun shot in Sneinton

Police investigating a possible gun shot remain in Sneinton this morning (Saturday, May 9).

Officers were called to Spalding Road at around 2.45pm on Friday (May 8) after reports of "loud bangs" being heard.

There were no reports of any injuries or damage to property, and officers taped off the area.

A spokesman for Nottinghamshire Police said officers were still at the scene on Saturday morning and that there'd been no arrests in connection with the incident.

Officers said they were investigating the "possibility of the discharge of a firearm", increasing patrols in the area.

Detective Sergeant Lee Cattell, leading the investigation, said: “We continue to work hard and establish the circumstances to yesterday’s report.

“Officers remain at the scene, talking to the local community who may have seen or heard the incident and we continue to investigate the possibility of the discharge of a firearm.

"We have prioritised high-visibility patrols in the area, and are working with the local community and partners to offer reassurance and deal with their concerns."

On Friday, Inspector John Lees added: “I would appeal for anyone who witnessed anything suspicious, or has CCTV or dash-cam footage in the area, to get in touch as soon as possible."

Anyone with information that may help the investigation is asked to call the force on 101, quoting incident 470 of May 8.

Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
