Investigation as motorcyclist dies after crash outside Aldi in Stapleford

A 40-year-old motorcyclist has died following a crash in Stapleford.

The man, who was riding a motorbike along Nottingham Road, near the Aldi supermarket, at around 1.16pm on Friday, August 13.

He was then involved in a crash with a car at the entrance to the supermarket.

Nottinghamshire Police says he was taken to the Queen's Medical Centre and, despite the best efforts of nurses and doctors, he died as a result of his injuries on Wednesday, August 18.

Sergeant Mark Baker, of the force’s serious collision investigation unit, says officers are investigating the incident and appealing for witnesses to come forward.

"This was a tragic incident in which a man lost his life far too soon," he added.

"His family are now being supported by specially trained officers and they have asked for privacy at this difficult time.

"As with all road traffic collisions where people are killed or seriously injured, we are working hard to understand exactly what happened and a full investigation will be undertaken.

"If you witnessed this incident or were travelling along the road immediately before the collision please contact 101 quoting incident 366 of 13 August 2021.

"We are particularly keen to hear from you if you have any dashcam footage of this incident.”
