Police are investigating after a man's body was pulled from the River Wear in Sunderland.
Emergency services were called to the river at around 10.30pm Saturday after reports that a man had fallen into the water.
Northumbria Police's Marine Unit carried out a thorough search of the river and surrounding area.
Officers recovered a body on Sunday.
A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: "Enquiries are now ongoing and his next of kin have been identified and are being supported by specialist officers."
