Investigation after high-value Audi is stolen during burglary at South Shields home

Police are investigating after a high-value car was stolen after burglars raided a South Tyneside home .

On Tuesday, officers were alerted to a break-in overnight at an address on Drake Close, South Shields.

At some point in the early hours, offenders gained access to the address before swiping the keys to a grey Audi RS3. They then drove off in the vehicle, which has a registration ending OEN.

Police say the vehicle is distinctive in appearance and have released a picture of the stolen car in the hope that members of the public may have seen it.

Detective Sergeant Chris Raper-Smith, of Northumbria Police, said: “We are following a number of lines of enquiry in a bid to locate the stolen vehicle and bring those responsible to justice.

“We’re now asking anybody who thinks they may have seen it or who might have been involved to come forward with information.

“Please check your dashcam footage if you live in the area and recognise the registration plate. Your information, no matter how insignificant you feel it may be, could provide the crucial missing link to this investigation.”

Anyone who has seen the vehicle or has information is asked to contact us via the ‘Tell Us Something’ page of their website or by calling 101 quoting log 151 081120.
