Investigation after firefighters were called to shop blaze

An investigation has launched into the cause of a fire which affected a shop in Clifton.

Nottinghamshire Live understands the blaze was located in the upstairs of a newsagents in Southchurch Drive.

Emergency services were called to the scene just after 9pm on Friday, May 15.

Two hoses, six breathing apparatus and a thermal imaging camera were used in extinguishing the flames.

Crews arrived at the scene from West Bridgford Station, Highfields, and London Road.

A spokesman from Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service was unable to confirm the name of the shop to Nottinghamshire Live but said an investigation into the cause was on going.

The service tweeted about the incident this morning stating: "Crews from #WestBridgfordStn19 #HighfieldsStn29 #LondonRoadStn03 attended a shop fire on #SouthchurchDrive #Clifton. A re inspection also carried out this morning, they used two hose reels, six breathing apparatus and thermal image camera."
