An investigation is under way after a car's tyres were slashed outside of a Northumberland home.

Police have now released the image of a man they would like to trace in connection with an alleged report of criminal damage to a car in Ashington.

Last Saturday, at around 9.25am an unknown man allegedly used a sharp object to slash three car tyres outside an address on Riversdale Court in Stakeford.

The owner of the car spotted the man from his window and confronted him before he fled the scene.

An investigation was launched to find the culprit.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: "As part of their enquiries, police have now identified a man who they would like to speak to.

"He was seen in the area at the time of the offence and officers believe he could assist the investigation.

"The man, or anyone who recognises him, is asked to contact police via the ‘Tell Us Something’ page of our website or by calling 101 quoting crime number 120167R/21."
