Inverness road locked down as 'armed' police swoop on 'ongoing incident'

An Inverness road is on lock down this morning amid an "ongoing" police incident.

Officers alerted locals to the closure on Facebook just before 7am this morning, with eyewitnesses claiming armed police and sniffer dogs have been deployed.

The incident is circulating around Inshes Road in the south-east of the city.

The force wrote: " Police Scotland wish to advise the public, of a road closure on the Inshes Road, Inverness, from Kincraig Drive junction to Sandalwood Avenue junction, due to an ongoing incident."

Nearby residents commenting on the police post say they expect the road to be closed for some time.

One said: "There is 5 police cars. Police have guns. Roads are closed. No sign of movement.

"There are sniffer dogs as well."
