Inverness reject Dundee bid to speak to John Robertson over Dens job

Inverness have knocked back an approach from Dundee to speak to John Robertson about becoming their new manager.

The Dens Park side are without a boss having sacked Jim McIntyre earlier this month following relegation to the Championship.

It’s understood Dundee chiefs asked for permission to speak to Robertson, 54.

But Caley Thistle rejected the move and remain desperate to keep hold of the former Hearts gaffer, who led the Highlanders to the brink of promotion.

Although Inverness lost to Dundee United in the playoff semi-finals, Robertson guided the club to the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup and the season has been a success.

It’s unclear whether Dundee – who have been linked with a host of candidates – will knock on Inverness’ door again.

Record Sport revealed Charlie Adam is interested in a player-manager role at Dens while Kenny Miller is another name in the frame.

Dundee’s squad needs a radical overhaul and on Monday the club announced a mass exodus of players.

Defender Genseric Kusunga was among those freed having failed to agree terms.
