Inveralmond High School pupils celebrate top marks in exams

Pupils at Inveralmond Community High School in Livingston have been celebrating a record year of exam results

Early indications show that the results from S5 pupils across West Lothian’s 11 secondary schools have improved across a number of key indicators at Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) Level 6, which includes Highers.

This is the seventh consecutive year that exam performance has improved in West Lothian.

Inveralmond S5 pupils recorded a rise of 15 percentage points in those passing five or more Higher level courses to 46 per cent, which is more than double the number achieving the same in 2015.

Those S5 students passing three or more Level 6 level courses to also rose by seven percentage point rise to 60 per cent this year.

Inveralmond head teacher Suzanne Young said: “We are delighted that the hard work of our students has paid off with a fantastic set of exam results for Inveralmond this year. Congratulations to all the students on their acheivements, and huge thanks to their parents, our dedicated teaching staff and everyone else who supported them. Whilst we’re proud of all our pupils who worked hard to deliver such fantastic results, there are a few groups that deserve a special mention.

“We achieved an amazing 98 per cent pass rate in Modern Studies down to the efforts of our dedicated staff and pupils, and congratulations to everyone who achieved their First Aid qualification this year.

“Special praise must go to S5 pupil Beth Hailstones, who managed the incredible achievement of passing 11 level 6 qualifications with six SQA Highers and additional five Level 6 awards.”
