Intruder removed from the I'm a Celebrity set after security breach

I’m a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! bosses were on high alert last night after an intruder got into the grounds of Gwrych Castle in north Wales.

An intruder was removed from the set after managing to get past the programme’s six-tier security system including bulletproof detection robots, according to The Sun.

Guards frogmarched the trespasser, who was within touching distance of the castle walls, to the perimeter and they were sent on their way.

But if they had managed to get into the camp it could have caused chaos for the show as it would have breached the Covid bubble in place at the castle.

An ITV source told The Sun: "A security breach was identified and an intruder was removed from the location with immediate effect.

"The safety of both our celebrities and our production crew remains our primary concern.”

The intruder in question had reportedly tried to break in earlier in the run but did not manage it.

The breach comes after Good Morning Britain host Richard Madeley was forced to quit after being taken to hospital on Thursday morning.

He later revealed in an interview with Ant and Dec that he was as 'fit as a fiddle' after his sudden exit.

But the journalist and broadcaster was unable to return to the castle after breaking the covid bubble.
