Intruder poses as statue to evade police, woman awakes to find stranger cooking eggs

Police arrested two intruders in separate incidences early this morning.

An intruder "found snooping" around an Adelaide building site tried to avoid detection by pretending to be a statue, police have said.

The man from Seaton, in Adelaide's west, was allegedly spotted inside the South Plympton building site by a security company early this morning.

Police were called to Pleasant Avenue just before 3:30am after receiving reports of a person walking around the apartments with a torch.

Police said they called in a dog patrol to help track the man down, who was "found snooping" inside.

"Police Dog Judge and his handler searched the site locating a man inside one of the new apartments pretending to be a statue," police said in a statement.

The 29-year-old man was charged with unlawfully being on premises.

Police checks revealed the man also had an outstanding court warrant and has been refused bail.

Unwanted cook in kitchen

Meanwhile in Adelaide's south, a Seacombe Gardens home owner awoke early this morning to find a stranger cooking in her kitchen.

The resident was woken by her dog about 5:30am and discovered a woman cooking eggs and chicken on the kitchen stove.

"[The] woman woke in her Sturt Road home, to her dog barking and the smell of cooking," police said.

"The home owner found a woman standing at the kitchen stove cooking chicken and eggs in a frypan.

"When challenged the unwanted cook walked out of the house via a rear door."

The 43-year-old from Hendon was found nearby on Diagonal Road.

She allegedly stole a packet of cigarettes from the house and was charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass and theft.

She was refused bail and will face the Christies Beach Magistrates Court later today.
