Intruder flees Paisley care home after being found in pensioner's bathroom

An intruder fled after being found rummaging in a pensioner's bathroom inside a Paisley care home in the middle of the night.

The Paisley Daily Express reports the suspect made off from the scene at Kyle Court on Lochore Avenue, after being disturbed.

The incident is understood to have taken place at around 2.45am on Friday morning.

Police are now appealing to the public for information.

A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed to Glasgow Live: " We were called to a report of a housebreaking at a business premises in Lochore Avenue, Paisley, around 3.20am on Friday, 1 May.

"Enquiries are ongoing."

A spokesperson for the home said: “The safety of our Residents is our utmost priority. We are disgusted and angered that our home was targeted by thieves, particularly at a time of national public health crisis.

“We can confirm that no one was hurt during this unfortunate incident and no items were taken. Once Colleagues became aware of the robbery, they acted immediately to contact Police and follow the relevant internal procedures. We praise their heroism in responding so quickly and calmly which meant everyone was kept safe.

“We continue to work closely with the Police to support their investigation and hope the local community will help identify the perpetrators of this unacceptable crime.”
