Introducing the 2022 TD Fellow on Disability and Inclusion

The Walrus and TD have found their new TD Fellow on Disability and Inclusion. Trisha Gregorio has joined the team and will receive training in the marketing, digital, and events departments at The Walrus. Gregorio will contribute to the curation, planning, and promotion of The Walrus journalism, events, social media, and marketing.

This is the fourth year that The Walrus has partnered with TD to develop this fellowship. Thanks to generous support from TD, Gregorio will assist The Walrus in exploring issues related to disability and inclusion across all of The Walrus platforms throughout 2022, continuing the organisation’s commitment to DEI initiatives in media.

The fellowship serves three purposes: benefitting The Walrus audiences by exposing them to more critical content related to disability and inclusion, strengthening the capacity of The Walrus as an inclusive organization, and removing barriers for a journalist with a disability to work in the sector and gain direct and relevant experience.

As the National Inclusion Partner of The Walrus, TD will also support two in-person events in 2022. The first of which, The Walrus Talks: Reconnecting Arts and Culture, will take place in Halifax on September 13, at 7 p.m. AT. Registrations for the fall events season will open soon, and attendees can be informed about that here.

The Walrus thanks TD for its meaningful commitment to a more inclusive and sustainable tomorrow and its belief in The Walrus as a vehicle for positive social change.

“I cannot be more honoured and excited to be the 2022 TD Fellow on Disability and Inclusion! So much of trying to do better by the communities I belong to is knowing how much more there always will be to learn and relearn, and I can’t wait to grow through the work and guidance of such a wonderful team.” — Trisha Gregorio, TD Fellow on Disability and Inclusion, The Walrus.

“Congratulations Trisha! At TD, we’re incredibly proud to continue supporting The Walrus and this fellowship, which helps aspiring journalists with disabilities build their careers,” said Amy Hanen, Associate Vice President, Social Impact (Canada), TD Bank Group. “Through the TD Ready Commitment, our corporate citizenship platform, we remain committed to helping build a more inclusive and sustainable future. We believe that by collaborating together, we can create the conditions needed for people to thrive in a changing world.”

Trisha Gregorio is an audio producer, writer and editor with nearly a decade of experience working with a range of genres, from fiction to nonfiction to theatre to podcasts. As a queer first-generation immigrant living with invisible disabilities, they are a firm believer in the power of art and media in championing the voices of those who aren’t often given space to revolutionize through storytelling. Trisha is the producer of the Living Hyphen Podcast and Envisioning an Anti-Racist London, and is currently working on a novel with Diaspora Dialogues.
