'Intrigues me' - Juventus told to make January transfer move for Liverpool forward

A former Juventus player has tipped his old club to make a move for Liverpool striker Divock Origi.

The Reds forward has been forced to settle for limited game time at Anfield this season, and is currently sidelined with an injury.

In his 10 appearances for Liverpool this term, the Belgium international has five goals to his name.

Two came in the Carabao Cup and two more came in the Premier League, with his most memorable arguably being his last-minute winner in the 1-0 victory over Wolves at the start of last month.

Origi’s other strike came in the 2-1 away victory to AC Milan in the Champions League last month at the San Siro.

The 26-year-old has missed Liverpool’s last six Premier League matches through injury, but that has not stopped a former Juventus player from expressing an interest.

Massimo Mauro, who made 150 appearances for Juventus in the late 1980s, has suggested that his old club make a move for Origi.

Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic and Paris Saint-Germain’s Mauro Icardi have been tipped to be potential targets for Juve, but Mauro says he’s “intrigued” by Origi.

“Right now I would aim for a young player, who is already capable of taking responsibility like Scamacca, who is better than Vlahovic for me”, Mauro told Gazzetta dello Sport, via Inside Futbol , when asked about Juventus signing a striker this month.

“He is physically big, has excellent potential and is very good on the counter-attack. I see him as a perfect [fit] for Allegri’s Juventus.

“Of course, the great unknown is [whether he can handle the] weight of the shirt, especially in such a particular year.

“Scamacca has played with Genoa and Sassuolo so far, it’s not the same thing, I’d be curious to see him in black and white.

“Another name that intrigues me is Origi."
