'Intoxicated' man rode scooter on motorway after night out

A man who attempted to ride his scooter home along a motorway after a night out in Birmingham was stopped by police.

Central Motorway Police Group shared a video on Twitter of the man, who they described as being “intoxicated”, walking his scooter along the central lane of the A38M Aston Express in the early hours of Sunday morning.

He can also be seen riding the scooter close to a central reservation as traffic hurtles past on the section of road, which has a 50 miles per hour speed limit.

CMPG said on Twitter: “We are huge advocates of #modalshift & #ActiveTravel here at @CMPG.

"But scooters & the like should never be on the network, this intoxicated male on the A38M Sunday morning was stopped & reported after he found a novel but very dangerous way to get home after a night in Brum."
