The Japan Grand Prix International Orchid Festival 2018 began at Tokyo Dome in Bunkyo Ward, Tokyo, on Saturday. The 28th annual exhibition, organized by The Yomiuri Shimbun and other entities, will run until Friday.
About 100,000 orchids of 3,000 varieties from 21 countries and regions have been gathered, filling the venue with their sweet scent.
The theme this year is "Paradise, Southern Lands and the Tropics." One of the main exhibits is a series of aquariums at the entrance gate, along with orchids in colors such as yellow and orange. Dubbed "Orchid Road," this exhibit was installed in cooperation with the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium in Okinawa Prefecture.
On the first day of the event, a great number of fans came to see the flowers, including the orchid that was awarded the top prize.
