Internet brands dominate buzz chart, led by YouTube music awards

October was a busy month for brands when it came to online video. Thanks to Google's YouTube awards the Internet out-performed Technology, despite strong videos from GoPro. Each month the Ebuzzing Labs tracked thousands of branded online videos to find out which sectors are producing the most viewable, shareable video content.

October in numbers

Last month 15,000 videos were produced by over 1,100 brands, with the top 10 videos viewed over 68 million times.

Top sectors:

Internet

In October the Internet sector performed exceptionally well, boosted by videos promoting YouTube's first ever music awards which took place on November 3rd. 17% of all the views in October went to Internet brands and a massive 31% of all Facebook interactions were attributed to the sector. More impressive still is the Facebook interaction rate that stands at 5%, well above the average of 2.3%, showing the sector was able to encourage interaction in an extremely large audience.

Technology

Although not claiming the top spot in October the technology sector is always a regular feature in the spotlight. Last month tech brands took an impressive 26% of the total views and 21.5% of all Facebook interactions. Its Facebook interaction rate stands at a respectable 2.3%, which is impressive given the number of videos produced, 3,261 in total, making up 19% of all videos published.

Games

The Games sector was another high performer last month, thanks to a top 10 video from Rovio. The sector produced 6% of all videos but managed to take an impressive 11% of all views and 2.6% of all Facebook interactions. The data shows that one successful online video ad can boost a sector's performance, particularly if only a small number of videos are produced.

Top brands:

Google

The internet giant proved it knows exactly what to do when creating buzz around online video. With two videos advertising the YouTube music awards in the top 10, the brand produced 2.9% of all videos published, taking 17.6% of all views logged in October and a huge 36.5% of all Facebook Interactions.

GoPro

After producing a top 10 video in September GoPro went one step further, landing 2 videos in first and second place in the Video Buzz Chart. The two videos played a large part in securing 8.6% of the total views in October and 14.3% of all Facebook interactions.

Sony

Sony's advert for Perfect Day, due to be released on the long awaited PlayStation 4, was the 6th most viewed video in October, watched over 5.5 million times. The video, and excitement over the console's release, attracted 4.1% of all views in October and 4.2% of all Facebook interactions.
