Internet blackout after cable box mowed down by driver

People have been left without internet and phone services in Kirkby after a car knocked over a telecommunications box.

One resident, who asked not be named, said the green cable box on the corner of Saxon Way was knocked over on Friday, July 30.

Photographs suggest a car left the road and hit the box, knocking it over. There were tyre marks on the grass verge.

The woman said hundreds of locals on the Littledale Estate were now without internet and landline services.

She said: "The box was knocked over some on Friday night or Saturday morning. Hundreds of people on the estate are now without internet services and landlines.

"Obviously its a massive issue for people working from home, and mums trying to keep the kids entertained."

The woman said that her internet provider said she might be without services for another two weeks.

She said: "I am with Talk Talk and they have told me that it might take until August 14 before they can resume services.

"But people with other providers have been affected too. We are talking about big companies here and I am hoping this matter can be resolved sooner than later."

A local man said: "The car must have been doing some speed to knock it over. I think the driver just made off afterwards."

Police said they had no record of a road collision in the area.

The ECHO approached Talk Talk for comment.
