International Tiger Day: PM Modi commits to providing safe habitat, shares stats

Today, on International Tiger Day, PM Modi took to social media and shared insights and the government's take on the same. He expressed the government's commitment to providing safe and tiger-friendly ecosystem stays renewed. He also shared some insights on the occasion, sharing that India is home to 51 tiger reserves that are spread across 18 states.

He also gave out some positive news, stating that the country has managed to double its tiger population, a feat as the record has been achieved 4 years prior to the schedule set by St. Petersburg Declaration.

PM Modi also shared that India's conservation policies for tigers gives immense importance to the local communities as well. He also expressed that the nation has shares ethos of living in harmony with nature, including both flora and fauna.

It has to be noted that India is home to 70% of the world's tiger population, and attracts enthusiasts from all over the world. Some of the major tigers reserves in India are Bandipur, Corbett, Ranthambore, Periyar, Sariska, Nampdapha, Dudhwa, Pench and more.
