It's International Kiss a Ginger Day - show some socially distanced love for Glasgow's redheads

Glasgow's ravishing redheads will be feeling the love today, soaking up all the adulation on International Kiss a Ginger Day.

Sadly, things are a little different for our favourite flame-haired friends this year, with the way of the world right now, a kiss on the cheek for your number one ginge is sadly out of reach.

But that doesn't stop you giving some socially distanced love to our city's fiery reds.

International Kiss a Ginger Day has been celebrating redheads around the world since 2009.

The movement was started in order to offset a sinister Kick a Ginger Facebook campaign which was starting to get a bit of attention.

Luckily for those of us with the most luscious coloured locks, the less violent option took off, and there is now an annual celebration of fiery manes across the globe every January.

Hurrah!

With a high percentage of the world’s gingers here in Scotland's biggest city (we have no solid evidence to back that up, but we’re willing to bet a lot of money), we think it's time to celebrate these stunners on their glorious day of recognition.

In non-covid times, red-headed Glaswegians might even have headed out on the pull, because their gingy locks might have just won them a date (or at the very least, a winch).

Know any gingies who need some love tonight? Make sure to let them know this is their day to shine!
