The most 'essential' parts of a burger include lettuce, a bread roll and a beef burger, a survey has revealed.
The poll by ordering app Foodhub also found that a quarter (24%) of British adults voted the gherkin as a 'must-have' topping.
It comes as the company attempts to find 'Britain's perfect burger' for International Burger Day today.
The majority of respondents (54%) said beef was their filling of choice, compared with chicken and veggie both scoring 6%.
In what researchers described as a 'surprise', lettuce was seen as a more essential part of a burger than cheese, on 45% and 44% respectively.
As for the sauce, more people opted for ketchup (37%) over mayonnaise (31%), mustard (14%) and BBQ (8%).

Foodhub spokesperson Ardian Mula said: “It seems people are sticking to what they know when it comes to a burger.
"With the classic combination of beef, bread roll, lettuce and cheese making the list of Brit’s favourite burger toppings.
“However, it is interesting to see the vegetarian burger coming in at such a small percentage.
"This is a market that is certainly growing exponentially, and it seems those in our capital city are the biggest fans of the vegetarian option, as over one in ten Londoners opted for a veggie burger compared to the rest of the country."
