Twelve artists have joined Hua Hin's international art residency programme at Nern Chalet Beachfront Hotel, where participants will remain for a month to create art works. The residency started last Friday and will conclude with an exhibition of the pieces produced during their stay at River City Bangkok on July 11.

The residency programme is an initiative that aims to raise Hua Hin's profile as an art destination for Thai and international visitors.
The artists on the list are a cosmopolitan mix of talents from Europe, Australia, Asia and Thailand. They will work at the hotel but will also visit sites in and around Hua Hin to create works that have a meaningful connection with the local environment.
Michael John Bell, Ruth Li and Stephen Anthony Bird, all from Australia, are three well-known contemporary artists in their country for their paintings, drawings and sculptures. From Belgium arrives Marc Janssens who works with various materials to find new shapes and forms. Sanket Viramgami is an Indian miniature painter; Monika Grycko from Italy is interested in the ambiguity of human nature and uses video, photography and various materials to express that; Hideyuki Katsumata from Japan is a pop-art specialist who likes colourful drawings; Epjey Pacheco from the Philippines is a renowned painter; Anna Maria Couderc Arranz from Spain switches between painting and textile art. There are two Vietnamese artists, Do Hiep and Pham Huy Thong with backgrounds in oil painting and graphic design respectively. Lastly, Vasan Sitthiket is a veteran Thai painter who has agreed to join the programme.
The International Contemporary Art Residency Program is an open one, and the public is welcome to visit, meet the artists, learn from them and see their work in development at Nern Chalet Beachfront Hotel, near Khao Takieb.
