Saudi Interior Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Nayef announced on Wednesday the success of this year’s annual Hajj pilgrimage in line with all health, logistic, service and security plans set by the Kingdom.
In cables to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, he said that 2,489,406 pilgrims have performed this year’s holy rituals.
He added that the Hajj was held without security incident or any other incident that could have disrupted the pilgrims’ rituals.
The Hajj was held amid a comprehensive system of services and facilitations and security, health and traffic organization, continued Prince Abdulaziz.
The success of the Hajj can be attributed to the execution of the orders of the Saudi leadership, he stressed.
Governor of the Makkah region Prince Khalid al-Faisal and his deputy, Prince Badr bin Sultan, also offered their congratulations to King Salman, Crown Prince Mohammed and the Interior Minister.
Prince Khalid expressed his gratitude to all personnel who were part of the success of the Hajj, saying these efforts must continue until all pilgrims depart the Kingdom safely back to their countries.
The Hajj effectively ended on Wednesday. Remaining pilgrims will perform the farewell circumambulation, Tawaf al-Wadaa, of the holy Kaaba.
Droves of pilgrims have already departed Makkah for Madina.
