Interior Design Masters: Budding creators head to Scotland to transform Marr Hall

Interior Design Masters with Alan Carr has returned for an epic fourth season as the contestants head to Bishopton to transform Marr Hall.

Alan, joined by the designer’s guru and head judge, Michelle Ogundehin, will be putting the contestants through their paces as they compete for the opportunity to design a luxury cocktail bar. After making it through to the third episode, the remaining eight designers headed to Scotland for their first individual challenge.

Michelle revealed that there were eight rooms at Marr Hall that the designers had to refurbish in line with their brief and sent fear through the remaining contestants as she revealed there would be a dramatic double elimination. Although this is their first solo project on the BBC show, the contestants were split into two different teams for their brief.

Joanne, Jack, Monica, and Tom were tasked with creating a stunning maximalist Scottish-themed bedroom, whilst Ry, Charlotte, Peter, and Temi were enlisted to design a room fit for guests on a lavish and relaxing spa retreat.

The synopsis for the episode reads: “After making it through nursery week, the eight remaining designers return to Michelle’s design studio in Brighton to be briefed on their next challenge

“This time, each designer must make over a hotel room at a five-star golf and spa resort on the banks of the River Clyde in Scotland. Half of the designers will be assigned a maximalist brief to appeal to the hotel's more outdoorsy guests, while the others must create a tranquil design to appeal to people looking to unwind in the spa.

"All rooms must be luxurious and reflect the uniquely Scottish surroundings. Initial excitement quickly turns to anxiety when Alan that reveals this week is a double elimination, and at the end of the challenge the two weakest designers will be going home.”

After Michelle made her way around the fully transformed rooms in Marr Hall, the contestants went to check out the competition to assess the threat level of their fellow designers.

On judging day, Alan informed the designers the four winners would be 'taking the high road' to the next week of the challenge, while the remaining four would be 'taking the low road' into Michelle's office for the elimination.

Ry, Jack, Monica, and Temi were all safe and immediately went through to the next week of the competition meaning Tom, Joanne, Peter and Charlotte were all at risk.

Unfortunately, Michelle decided to eliminate Joanne after failing to impress with her Scottish maximalist room at Marr Hall. Charlotte was ultimately the second designer eliminated, after making the fatal error of moving the bed away from the stunning view showcased by the mirror.

Interior Design Masters continues on BBC One at 8pm.
