When it comes to decorating your home, your personal tastes and style preferences are likely to influence many of the colour schemes and materials you choose for each room. And while some styles might be deemed more fashionable than others, it largely comes down to what makes you happy.
But one interior design expert has now shared the one common decor trend that she simply can't stand, as she finds it "so disgusting" and says it gives her the "ultimate ick".
Kelly Bryden, a spacial designer from the US, said her biggest pet peeve when it comes to design trends actually involves curtains, as it turns out there's one style of window covering that she hates above all else.
Specifically, Kelly said she can't stand curtains with grommets, which can also be called eyelet curtains and are the types that have metal rings punched into the top of the fabric that allows them to slide along the curtain rail.
In a video posted to Kelly's TikTok account, @kellaybryden, she said: "Interior design item that gives me the ultimate ick: curtains with grommets."
She then captioned the clip: "Literally cannot handle them."
And in a comment, she branded the curtains "so disgusting", before telling one commenter what she'd use instead to create a curtain style that doesn't give her the ick.
She explained: "Rod pocket or any type of pleat. Just not the grommets!!"
Rod pocket curtains have a drapery header that is sewn at the top of the fabric to allow the curtain rail to slip through, while pleated curtains usually attach to the rail using curtain hooks.
Meanwhile, another interior design expert previously claimed there's one popular paint colour that could be making your house look "uninviting".
Loren Kreiss explained in a video on his TikTok account that people should avoid using grey in their home, despite it being a hugely fashionable colour at the moment.
He said: "Here's one key thing to avoid if you want your home to look luxurious and inviting. Grey.
"Lose the grey. It's cold and dreary. And don't sleep on a good beige, it never went out of style and it's coming back big time. Don't be afraid to use a little texture like a lime wash too, that'll take everything over the top."
