Interest 'high' as Nottingham pub at tourist hotspot goes on the market

A Nottingham pub that has just gone on the market has piqued the interest of potential new owners with a deal expected to be concluded soon according to property agents. Crafty Crow closed for good in January and was put up for rent at the end of April.

The pub, located in Friar Lane opposite the gateway to Nottingham Castle, previously belonged to the Magpie Brewery. It opened as Crafty Crow in 2014, replacing the former BZR bar.

Frankie Labbate, director at Box Property, said: "Interest is already high in this prominent well fitted pub/bar. This kind of opportunity does not come to the market very often and no doubt a deal will be concluded very soon."

The sales blurb describes the rustic-looking pub as having "a highly visible and prominent location on Friar Lane directly opposite the Nottingham Castle, Nottingham’s prime tourist attraction which has recently undergone a £30m refurbishment and welcomes circa 300,000 visitors per annum."

The dog-friendly pub, which was known for serving real ale and craft beers, is close to The Castle pub and Fothergills bistro and just a short walk from Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem. The property has a lease of at least ten years and the annual rent is £50,000.

The previous owners blamed the downfall on tough trading conditions during the pandemic. Customers were gutted when it announced it was closing for good.

One said: "Oh no, that’s such a shame. A great place to go, brilliant choice of beer in a great location. A sad loss." Another commented: "Sad day. Loved going in there for a lovely beer in a beautiful part of the city!"
