Ty Lue’s chance to coach LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers fell through last summer, but it appears that there is mutual interest in having Lue coach another member of the Klutch Sports family for a team that has championship aspirations.
On Monday, the inevitable became official when the Philadelphia 76ers announced that they had parted ways with head coach Brett Brown after eight seasons. Following the announcement came the predictable shortlist of potential candidates to replace him, but Lue is the one name mentioned whose interest appears to be mutual, according to the latest reporting from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Lue’s only experience as a head coach was a wildly successful one, posting winning percentage over 60% and coaching the Cleveland Cavaliers to a 2016 NBA Championship. He also coached the Cavaliers to excellent record in 2017 and two more NBA Finals trips after the championship.
Lue’s experience coaching at the highest levels is likely a big reason why the Sixers are interested, but they also may be interested in his willingness to challenge star players like LeBron James, when coaching Philadelphia’s two superstars Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons.
