Interactive map shows location of all Arcturus Covid cases in the UK

The new Arcturus variant of Covid has been spreading across the UK and a new interactive map shows where all the confirmed cases are. The Omicron sub-variant has spread globally and as of April 17 there have been 120 of the Arcturus variant confirmed in the UK.

It has been reported that five Brits have died from this variant. In some countries, it has reached a point where some coronavirus rules have been brought back, such as India. After a surge in Covid cases India has reintroduced face masks.

Reports from India state the new variant comes with a new symptom. Doctors in the country have said they are seeing more children and adolescents with the variant presenting with conjunctivitis - or pink eye.

Arcturus, known as Covid XBB.1.16, has spread throughout the UK and has seen an increase in cases, with London a hotspot for the strain. According to figures by the UK Health Security Agency the virus is present in all but one region in the UK, the North East.

Currently, London has 31 confirmed cases. This is followed by the North West with 22 cases, then the South East with 19, and the East of England with 10.

Wales has eight cases, the West Midlands has six, Scotland has five, the East Midlands four, the South West three, Northern Ireland two, Yorkshire & the Humber one, and the North East none.
