Inter Milan summer signing drops major Romelu Lukaku hint amid talk of £105m Chelsea transfer

Chelsea's list of potential new centre-forwards appears to be getting shorter.

Among the names being linked with a move to Stamford Bridge this summer has been Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski, although Julian Nagelsmann has insisted that the Poland international is happy in Germany.

Another striker that has been on Chelsea's radar is Romelu Lukaku as a sensational return to west London has been heavily rumoured.

Towards the end of May, a report in the Sunday World suggested that Blues owner Roman Abramovich is still a massive fan of the Belgium international who along with Erling Haaland were 'high priority targets' as club officials felt they were in a strong position to complete one of the signings this summer.

Well, judging by what new Inter Milan signing Hakan Calhanoglu has said, it is almost certain that Lukaku is staying put.

"In a few years' time I'll be telling them [his young children] about Inter and I think how exciting it was to be providing assists for Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez," the Turkey international told CBS Sports.

"It will be nice. I can't wait to play with Romelu and Lautaro, they're very strong players in front. We need time to know each other, they know each other, but with me, they have to learn my movements.

"With me, I have to know their movements but I can't wait to play with them and give them assists."

Calhanoglu talking about providing assists for Lukaku in the new season would suggest that he's been promised the opportunity to play alongside the Chelsea transfer target.

As a result, it would appear that the Blues' hopes of signing a striker rest on Haaland.

With that said, recent reports claim that bid of at least £150m would tempt Borussia Dortmund into softening their stance on selling the Norway international this summer.

Lukaku would have been a slightly cheaper alternative at £105million, as per the Daily Mail, although he has recently insisted that he is happy at Inter.

When asked by former Manchester City winger Trevor Sinclair if he fancied playing in Pep Guardiola's side, Lukaku's reply all-but confirmed his stance on leaving Inter this summer.

"I am happy at Inter," he said.
