Inter Milan's Denzel Dumfries transfer stance revealed amid Chelsea £30.8m offer for Dutch star

Inter Milan will allow Chelsea target Denzel Dumfries to leave the club for €45 million (£39.3million), according to reports in Italy. The right wing-back has long been identified as a possible reinforcement at Stamford Bridge following his performances in Italy.

The Blues are understood to be considering adding a new right-sided wing-back to Graham Potter's squad this month following Reece James' reoccurring injury to his knee. The Cobham graduate is currently out of action after aggravating a knee injury upon the return of domestic football last month, a problem he first picked up in October.

Earlier this week, it was reported from La Repubblica that Chelsea had submitted a £30.8million bid for Dumfries but were below Inter's intended fee. The report claimed that the 19-time Italian champions want €55m (£48.4m) for the wing-back due to Todd Boehly's recent spending.

However, a fresh report from Tuttosport (via FCInterNews) has claimed that Simone Inzaghi's side will now accept £39.3million for Dumfries. Should these figures be accurate, Chelsea would only need to cough up close to another £8.5million from their initial offering to land the 26-year-old.

The news will come as good news to Manchester United and Tottenham, who are also reportedly interested in Dumfries. Both sides are said to be keen on signing a new right-back and have identified the former PSV Eindhoven star as a possible arrival in the summer.

Dumfries' current deal at San Siro expires in two years after joining the Italian giants in 2021. Since then, the Dutchman has made 68 appearances for Inter, with his natural ability as a wing-back showing he possesses similar traits to James.

Chelsea's current set-up is desperate for another energetic wing-back to fill in for James, but face a difficult task at convincing Dumfries to play second fiddle upon the England international's return.
