Inter Milan readying fresh Romelu Lukaku transfer bid as Man Utd hold out for £80m

Inter Milan are set to make a fresh approach for £80m Romelu Lukaku after a transfer summit at the club.

Boss Antonio Conte vented his anger last week at the club’s delay at securing the Manchester United striker ahead of the new season.

But the former Chelsea boss has been left heartened by a meeting in China with the club’s hierarchy.

Inter director Beppe Marotta said: “It’s all very positive.

“It’s good to feel a little bit of pressure. You can see Conte’s work, we are very happy. There’s more to be done, but there is optimism.”

United want £80m for Lukaku but Inter have so far shown no sign of being able or willing to meet the asking price.

Conte had hoped to have Lukaku in time for last weekend’s International Champions Cup game against United in Singapore.

He is now hoping Inter dig deep as United look to get their money back on the striker they bought for £75m two years ago from Everton .
