Inter Milan 'ready to seal cut-price £18m transfer' for Man Utd flop Alexis Sanchez

Inter Milan are ready to offer Manchester United a lifeline by turning Alexis Sanchez's loan into a permanent switch - but only if the Premier League side agree a cut-price deal.

Sanchez has spent the season on loan at Inter, and United want to get his £400,000-per-week wages off the bill this summer to release transfer funds for top targets such as £110million-rated Jadon Sancho.

The Chilean has recently penned an extension to see out the remainder of the season on loan at Inter, after the coronavirus brought a temporary halt to the season.

And, while the former Arsenal star hasn't exactly impressed in Italy, Inter are believed to be interested in signing him on a permanent deal if they can agree a cut-price fee with United.

Goal has claimed that the Italians are willing to pay £18million for Sanchez, though it remains to be seen whether the Old Trafford giants will accept that offer.

Meanwhile, Sanchez produced an imposing performance to inspire Inter Milan to a 6-0 win over Serie A strugglers Brescia at San Siro on Wednesday.

Sanchez scored for Inter for only the second time but helped set up other goals as they consolidated third place in Serie A on 64 points and moved closer to a berth in next season's Champions League.

Brescia slipped to the bottom of the table on 18 points, eight adrift of the safety zone, and will need a dramatic turnaround in fortunes in their remaining nine games if they are to avoid an immediate return to Serie B.

"Sanchez is starting to do well," said Inter boss Antonio Conte.

"He's still not the Sanchez I liked in England, but he's on the right track. He did well against Parma, coming in with the right attitude.

"Today there was great commitment on his part, he played an excellent game."
