Inter Milan optimistic Newcastle United will make Valentino Lazaro deal permanent

Inter Milan are optimistic Newcastle United will make the deal for Valentino Lazaro permanent.

That's according to Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, who also claim the Serie A giants are set to make a profit in the region of £7.3 million on the Austrian international.

Lazaro made the switch to the San Siro last summer but struggled to impress former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, making just four appearances before completing a loan to the Magpies in January.

The 24-year-old initally struggled in black and white in a wing-back role, being nutmegged for Arsenal's second goal in the crushing defeat at the Emirates before being sent off in injury time at Crystal Palace.

However, Lazaro grabbed his first goal for United in the FA Cup victory at West Brom, and looked more comfortable after Steve Bruce changed the formation.

A future fee for a permanent transfer was agreed between Inter and Newcastle in January in the region of £21.5m, with the Magpies paying just shy of £1m for the loan.

That fee would see the Italian side earn a profit on the 28-cap international who barely featured for the club since his move from Hertha Berlin.

However, despite making just four Magpies' appearances so far and the current uncertainty over the footballing season, TuttoMercatoWeb claim Inter are fairly confident of a permanent deal being concluded.
