Inter Milan misfit Christian Eriksen told he's being "humiliated" by Antonio Conte

Christian Eriksen is being "humiliated" by Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte, according to former Denmark manager Age Hareide.

Eriksen, 28, came off the bench in the 91st minute of Inter's Serie A clash with Bologna on Saturday, replacing Alexis Sanchez with just seconds remaining.

It marked the Dane's sixth substitute appearance of the season, while he has only started four matches in all competitions.

Eriksen has struggled to find his feet in Italy since a £16.9million transfer from Tottenham in January.

But he has continued to perform for his country and Hareide - who managed Denmark until July - insists the midfielder is being mistreated at San Siro.

“I think it’s a humiliating thing,” Hareide told Danish newspaper BT . “It’s never fun not to be a starter, but it’s humiliating to be put on the pitch in extra time, as happened on Saturday.

“Conte is wrong, Eriksen is good enough to be able to play more for Inter.”

Eriksen appears desperate to end his nightmare at Inter and club CEO Giuseppe Marotta confirmed last month that the player wants to leave.

Marotta told DAZN : "Conte responded in expansive fashion. We can't keep a player who at the moment is asking to be sold.

"We will make the right evaluations. At the moment he's available and Conte is using him in a way that is respectful of the club.

"Offers? At the moment they have yet to arrive. Should that change we will try to find the right combination."

Eriksen may make a rare start as Inter host Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

The Italian giants - who are second in Serie A - must win the clash to have any chance of progressing from Group B, which hangs in the balance ahead of a dramatic finale.
