Inter Milan give update on Manchester United player Alexis Sanchez's loan extension

Inter Milan chief executive Giuseppe Barotta has confirmed that the club are yet to agree an extension to Alexis Sanchez's loan from Manchester United.

The Chile international has spent the 2019/20 season on loan at the San Siro but an extension to his agreement to cover the Serie A's imminent return is yet to be agreed.

United 's initial agreement with Inter for Sanchez is due to expire in the coming days but, following the league's hiatus due to the coronavirus crisis, the Italian side are hoping to agree to an extension of that deal.

That would see Sanchez eligible for the conclusion of the Serie A campaign but Inter have thus far been unable to secure an agreement. Discussions with United are ongoing.

“This is a great regulatory anomaly that needs to be resolved because we are still dealing with Chelsea (for Victor Moses) and Manchester United today to try to extend their loans,” Marotta told Sky Sport Italia.

“It is not a simple thing. We are also dealing with Bayern Munich over Ivan Perisic.”

The 31-year-old Sanchez has struggled for consistency and encountered injury problems during his spell in Italy, scoring just once in 18 appearances across all competitions.
