Inter Milan complete deal for Shamrock Rovers teen Kevin Zefi

Inter Milan have wrapped up a deal to recruit Shamrock Rovers teen Kevin Zefi.

The 15-year-old – who became the youngest-ever League of Ireland scorer in September – will join the Serie A giants in the summer.

Leading Premier League clubs Manchester City and Manchester United were tracking the young Dubliner who last season shot to fame for scoring a wondergoal against England.

He followed that brace for Ireland’s Under-15s up with another strike in the win over Australia.

Covid-19 halted the international season but Inter had seen enough to table a lucrative offer.

It’s understood the tyro has relatives living in Milan and will be initially joined in Italy by his parents, who are both Albanian-born.

Rovers swooped to snare Zefi from cross-city rivals St Kevin’s Boys at 13.

The striker was promoted to the Hoops reserve side that competed in last year’s First Division.

His finish in September against Longford Town – aged 15 years and 206 days –surpassed the 10-year record for youngest scorer held by Stephen McGann.

Both Rovers and St Kevin’s Boys are entitled to receive around €30,000 from Inter under FIFA’s training and development compensation laws.
