Inter Milan vice president Javier Zanetti has backed James Rodriguez to be a great signing for Everton.
The 47-year-old, whose club were also linked with a move for the Real Madrid star, has claimed Inter never once had the idea of signing Rodriguez.
Everton are now looking set to acquire the services of the attacking midfielder who arrived in England in midweek.
Speaking to Caracol Radio, as cited by HITC, Zanetti claimed that despite the Serie A side not wanting to sign Rodriguez he thinks he 'will do very well at Everton'.
The Argentine said: “At no time did we have the idea of signing James. That does not mean he’s not a great player.

“I have no doubt he will do very well at Everton.”
On Wednesday, the 29-year-old was spotted dining out in London ahead of his proposed move to Goodison Park.
With Carlo Ancelotti very keen on adding the Colombia talisman, who he has coached at both Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, to his midfield.
The Italian approached the Everton board last month making his wish to sign Rodriguez known after months of being linked with his former player.
