Inter Miami transfer news: David Beckham's MLS side targeting English talent for debut season

David Beckham’s Inter Miami are intent on acquiring English talent as they prepare for their MLS debut.

The new franchise’s countdown to their first MLS match in March has begun, yet only two players have been signed so far.

One of Beckham’s three other co-owners, Jorge Mas, has revealed a manager is close to being appointed.

“We are trying to get someone who can also commit here for a period of time and leave his fingerprints on our team,” Mas told BBC Sport.

“It’s someone you’re going to know who has coached before at the highest level and who has played at the highest level.”

The goal is to appoint a coach with an “attacking style”, Mas added, with two Argentine players on board.

Striker Julian Carranza from Banfield and midfielder Matias Pellegrini from Estudiantes, with English talent likely to follow.

Gary Cahill could make the move, as he continues to search for a new club after being released by Chelsea.

While Manchester United’s Antonio Valencia is another reported target after his Old Trafford exit this summer.

“I think you will see if you look at our young signings, we’ve made substantial investments in them,” Mas added. “We’re going to couple them with players who have played in Europe who are very well known.

“We’ve looked at some English players. We’re having some conversations with some English players and we anticipate Inter Miami will have some English presence.”
