'Intense' Premier League interest in reported Nottingham Forest target

Reported Nottingham Forest target Younousse Sankhare is said to now have Premier League interest in his signature.

Bordeaux reportedly want to move the midfielder on this summer, and he is apparently not short of admirers.

Earlier this week, reports claimed the French side had received approaches from the Reds and fellow Evangelos Marinakis-owned club Olympiacos.

And now L’Equipe say newly-promoted Sheffield United have taken an “intense interest” in the 29-year-old, along with Forest’s Championship rivals Swansea City and Cardiff City.

Sankhare has two years left to run on his contract at Bordeaux, but it is claimed he has been told to find a new club.

The Senegal international made 28 appearances for the Ligue 1 team last season, scoring three goals.

He made the move to Bordeaux in January 2017 and counts Lille, Guingamp, Valenciennes, Dijon and Paris Saint-Germain among his former teams.

Forest have made six new additions so far in the transfer window, five of those since Sabri Lamouchi took charge.

Sammy Ameobi was the first new arrival, and has been followed by Tiago Silva, Alfa Semedo, Yuri Ribeiro, Arijanet Muric and Albert Adomah as the Reds look to put together a squad capable of mounting a promotion push when the new Championship campaign gets underway.
