Police in Lanarkshire have seized over £100,000 worth of cannabis after two vehicles were stopped on the M74 at the weekend.

That saw a Volkswagen Sharan and a Mercedes R350 pulled over by cops around 2.45pm near to junctions 13 and 8.

The intelligence-led investigation saw herbal cannabis with an estimated street value of £106,000 recovered and the drivers of each vehicle, along with a passenger from the Mercedes, arrested.

However, just one man was charged in connection with alleged drugs offences. The 46-year-old is due to appear in court at a later date.

Detective Chief Inspector John Morrison, said: “This work highlights our continued commitment to tackle drug crime and prevent drugs from getting into our communities.

“I’d ask anyone who has information about drugs offences to report these too us so that we can investigate accordingly.”
