Intel says it has produced test chips using a 45 nanometer process that will be rolled into production in the second half of next year. Intel is already running 65nm processes where most of the competition is still on 90nm. Intel is building two factories to produce 45nm chips: Fab 28 in Israel and Fab 32 in Arizona.
The 45nm SRAM chip has more than 1 billion transistors.
