The International Maritime Exercise 2019 (IMX 19) concluded on Friday.

The weekslong drill was led by the US Naval Forces Central Command, US 5th Fleet and Combined Maritime Forces and covered the region from the Gulf of Aqaba to the Northern Arabian Gulf.

It was the largest maritime exercises in the world given the number of participating countries, which included the Royal Navy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The drill carried out operations and training in the Arabian Gulf and waters off the coast of Djibouti.

The exercise covered securing and protecting maritime transport lines, confronting threats that impede the freedom of international shipping, the flow of international trade, maritime security and embargo operations, as well as cooperation and sharing of maritime expertise.
