Institute 0 Larne 4: Tiernan Lynch believes fans were left short-changed at Brandywell

Larne boss Tiernan Lynch believes fans were left short-changed by the football on show at the Brandywell on Saturday.

Storm Ciara ended any hopes of fluid, free-flowing football being played throughout the Danske Bank Premiership.

Larne managed to manoeuvre their way through a tricky assignment in the North West with a comfortable-looking 4-0 win over Institute.

Lynch's side benefited from some wind assistance in the second half, with all four of their goals coming after the break.

Despite the impressive win, Lynch isn't convinced the game should have gone ahead.

"I think the conditions spoiled the game as a spectacle," Lynch told the BBC.

"I know if I had paid my money in to watch that I would have been hugely disappointed.

"There was no football played, neither team could try and play.

"There were four different aspects of weather climate out there today - we had heavy rain, gale force winds, sleet at one stage, I think we had hail stones at one stage.

"And we are asking players to play in that?

"But great credit to both sets of players, they got on with it without any complaints."

Asked how he set his team up to manage the conditions, Lynch said: "You can't set up your team to play in those conditions.

"Unfortunately our game plan this week didn't take the conditions into consideration.

"But what we did do was we got compact and tight, and made sure we stayed in the game until half-time.

"We did that really well and we couldn't have asked any more from the boys."
