For almost two centuries the Victorian Cottage was two community shops in the heart of the original West Kirby Old Village.

Similar homes, just 0.1 miles away, are currently listed for a variety of prices, above £400,000.

A Sandy Lane property is on the market for £450,000, while on Kirby Park another four bedroom house is priced at £645,000.

Overall properties in West Kirby had an average sold price of £364,750 over the last year, according to Rightmove.

Detached properties made up the most of those sales over the last 12 months, selling for an average price of £516,044.

The rest of the sales were of semi-detached properties for an average of £332,860, with flats fetching £251,951.

Sold prices were up 16% on the previous year and 19% on the last peak of 2017.

Despite being transformed from shops to a family home, the property has retained many of its original looks and benefits from plenty of period features.
