Instant takeaways from the first half of Washington vs. Philadelphia

That was not exactly the half of football that Washington Redskins fans expected to see on Sunday. It was better, much better.

The Washington Redskins got out to a 20-7 lead over the Philadelphia Eagles, scoring on their opening possession and putting up 142 yards of offense in the first quarter, the most by any Washington team in 33 games.

QB Case Keenum looked brilliant early on, going 10-for-12 for 202 yards and two touchdowns while the Redskins built a 17-0 lead. At the same time, Washington’s defense was dominant, holding the Eagles to no points in the first quarter, and little beyond that.

Wide receiver Terry McLaurin also looked brilliant, topping 100 yards receiving in the first half, highlighted by a 70-yard bomb from Case Keenum for his first career touchdown.

All-in-all, the Redskins looked like the much better team in the first half in Philadelphia. There is still a lot of football to be played, but confidence is high in Washington.
