Instant analysis: Titans select WVU ILB David Long

With their final pick of the 2019 NFL Draft, the Tennessee Titans chose to address the defensive side of the ball one last time.

At pick No. 188 overall, the team selected former West Virginia inside linebacker David Long.

The sixth-rounder a developmental prospect who plays better against the run than in coverage. At 5-foot-11, 227 pounds, Long is undersized but makes up for it with just how productive he is.

He recognizes play direction quickly, has the ability to squeeze through gaps, doesn’t need to slow down to change direction and has found success as a blitzer.

He could also be an asset on special teams, where he could see action immediately for the Titans in 2019.

With the Mountaineers, Long racked up 246 tackles, 39.5 for loss, 12.5 sacks, ten pass breakups and two forced fumbles.

26 percent of his solo tackles were for losses over the past two seasons.

In the right scheme, Long has the ability to become an effective starter in time, and will certainly provide depth for the Titans at the position.
