Instant analysis of Treylon Burks’ breakout performance

Tennessee Titans rookie wide receiver Treylon Burks finally had the breakout game this fanbase has been yearning for in the Week 11 win over the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field on Thursday night.

The Titans made an obvious commitment to getting their rookie wideout the ball from the get-go, and it paid off. Burks led the team in targets (eight), receptions (seven), and yards (111) by the end of the evening.

His day started with a massive play — a 43-yard reception that put the Titans in scoring territory.

Arguably the best part of the play was Tannehill recognizing that his receiver had single coverage with no safety over the top and letting it rip.

Even more awesome is the fact that the Razorbacks legend also recognized this and threw his hand up once he was behind the entire defense to let Tannehill know that he was open and ready for the ball.

Burks would go on to have five other catches in the first half and finished the first two quarters with a total of 60 yards. One of those catches was a clutch, chain-moving grab on third down the play before Tennessee’s second score.

The first-round receiver had a relatively quiet second half after that, but his 51-yard catch at the end of the game to officially put the dagger in the Packers was a thing of beauty.

Tennessee’s talented receiver showed a ton of confidence after the play was over, as it looked like Burks essentially told All-Pro cornerback Jaire Alexander that he was too small to stop him from making that play.

This is the type of swagger and production the Titans want to see out of their top weapon through the air going forward. Needless to say, I don’t think we’ll be seeing any tweets out of Philadelphia this evening.
