Instant analysis of the Steelers dominating win over the Dolphins

The first half was ugly but in the end the Pittsburgh Steelers remembered they were better than the Miami Dolphins and they showed it. Miami led 14-0 at one point in the first half but the Steelers scored 27 straight to pull away and improve their record to 2-4.

Many fans were ready to bury quarterback Mason Rudolph early in the game after a few errant throws. But Rudolph settled down and started throwing with more confidence as the game went on. Rudolph finished with 251 yards passing on 20 completions and two beautiful passing touchdowns.

But the story of the game on offense was running back James Conner. When Benny Snell went out with a knee injury, Conner knew he wasn’t coming off the field. And he responded with 23 carries for 145 rushing yards.

On defense you saw the rust of the bye week early. Miami was able to move the football easily on two early drives. But as the game went on the Steelers defense put the clamps down. Pittsburgh finished with four sacks and forced three turnovers, including two interceptions by former Dolphins safety Minkah Fitzpatrick.
